The EZ-Start controller plugs into a 4-prong receptacle on your vehicle. Smart Start™ protection circuitry prevents damage to the motor by cutting power if the load on the motor or other electronics exceeds safe limits. The cush drive mechanism in the drive unit prevents damage to the gears caused by engine kickback. The “Motor” LED indicates the status of the EZ-Start electric starter motor. The “Glow Plug” LED (light emitting diode) on the control unit indicates the condition of the glow plug. The voltage to the glow plug is kept constant, regardless of the load placed on the starter by the starter motor. The engine glow plug is heated automatically by the EZ?Start system, eliminating the need to keep up with a separate glow plug igniter.Power for the EZ-Start system comes from a 7.2-volt rechargeable battery pack installed in the hand-held control unit.A single charge should provide a full day of starting. The EZ-Start® requires a fully-charged, 7.2-volt, 6-cell battery pack and a charger (not included). Traxxas' exclusive Smart Start™ technology monitors critical starting functions, automatically sensing and diagnosing potential problems for trouble-free engine starting every time. Simply plug in the hand-held control unit, push the button, and the EZ-Start system automatically heats the glow plug and the lightweight, compact on-board drive spins the engine. The Traxxas EZ-Start® system brings the power, convenience and safety of push-button electric starting to the TRX 2.5, 2.5R, or 3.3 Racing Engines. If you think its too lean richen it out and then try again but lsn tuning is a pain, its more sensative so do a few runs by slow then fast slow then fast then re check your setting.EZ-Start, Easy, Reliable, Push-Button Engine Starting I have my lsn at 1.75 and it looks happy enough with that, not gobbing fuel out everywhere and just a reasonable ammount of smoke but I noticed Byron doesnt smoke as much so its only a guide. Once your happy with the top speed check the lsn by doing the pinch test if you can be bothered lol. could be a little boggy but hsn is prettymuch factory settings on it so I'd honestly say start at 5 turns out on your hsn and 1.75 on your lsn and play, warm up then a few high speed runs to see if your hitting max speed, also check sound of engine, on if its bogging with too much fuel or slowing and missing due to being too lean, then check temp, if its running too hot richen it up an 1/8 then try again a couple of runs then re check. His lsn is rather rich but wont hurt anything I guess. Think the kids drank far too much coke in that vid but You have to use all tuning guides as a base as nitro engines are effected by ambient temp and humidity. its easyerr for me this way as long as its not massive tweeking. Keep to 1.5 1.75 turns and tweek the idle with the trim. and then once your happy sort out the tick over tehn if you really need to do the lsn but if you do this will affect the tick over. Keep playing, and if your still having issues, reset the needles and start again rather than trying to get it from where you are.Ī few high speed runs then check the temp. I honestly have to agree with revo rocks on the lsn, I think if you want it to set off like a loon then ok, lean it out but if its lean when you kill the throttle it will still be lean on over run therefor wont slow as quick or cool as quick. It runs cooler without a body so I'm building a cage soon that will look the muts and also keep it cool. I'm still experimenting but I've found that they run hot anyway, and if you can keep it around 270 your doing well with a stock body. toi lean and its hits second quickly but will heat up. I think its stock gearbox so I tune it so its enough to hit second gear without a massive run up and thats it. I now run Byron 25% and I get high temps but with my temp gun I keep an eye out. I have gone through 1/2 a gallong of duraglow 16 and 25% wich in all honesty is carp as it just globs gunk everywhere and runs hot as it canty burn half the oil its putting in. They come with 4 turns out but I wound mine to 5 turns on the hsn and 1 3/4 turns LSN and I'm still on the same plug as when I started.
